Fostering a welcoming and supportive environment
At Fourways Pharmacy in Devonport, Georgia plays a central role in ensuring the dispensary runs smoothly each and every day. As Dispensary Manager, she oversees staffing, coordinates rosters, and supports a team of more than 70 staff members, all while helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for both colleagues and the local community.
Georgia has been in the Dispensary Manager role for around three years, but her journey with TasPharm began long before that. After first entering the pharmacy industry in her early twenties, she built her experience as a dispensary technician before joining the TasPharm team more than a decade ago.
“I started as a full-time dispensary technician. After a few years I moved into the aged care department, where I helped coordinate pharmacy services for nursing homes.”

Keeping the pharmacy running smoothly
Over time, Georgia’s experience and leadership saw her step into the Dispensary Manager role, where she now helps coordinate staff and ensure the dispensary runs efficiently each day.
A key part of Georgia’s work is supporting the people around her. From managing rosters to helping pharmacists and technicians with day-to-day questions, she helps keep the pharmacy running smoothly so the team can focus on patient care.
“At the moment we have about 75 staff. I help with staffing and rostering and make sure each department has what it needs for the day.”
For Georgia, one of the most rewarding aspects of her role is seeing the pharmacy operate seamlessly from morning to evening.
“I love seeing the day come together. Making sure everything is planned, that the team has the support they need, and that there’s always someone available to answer questions or solve problems.”
A pharmacy that feels like family
Fourways Pharmacy is known for its welcoming team environment, something Georgia believes is one of the pharmacy’s greatest strengths.
“We have such a broad range of people working here. From students with after-school jobs to team members who are close to retirement but still love coming in for a few hours. That mix of people creates such a lovely dynamic. It really does feel like a big family.”

A team that encourages career growth
Support from TasPharm’s owners has also played an important role in Georgia’s career journey.
“They’re incredibly supportive. Even though they’re not physically in Devonport, they’re always available when we need them. You can call them anytime and they’ll always respond.”
That support extends to career development as well. Georgia says the leadership team encourages staff to grow, learn and explore new opportunities within pharmacy.
“They’re always open to new ideas and they really encourage us to keep developing. They even keep suggesting I go to university to become a pharmacist!”
Strengthening community connections
Beyond the dispensary, Georgia is passionate about strengthening connections between the pharmacy and the local community.
“I’d really like to keep building our community work. We’ve started doing more donations and charity initiatives, and we’re supporting the local women’s shelter at the moment.”

A career built on compassion and quality care
For Georgia, pharmacy is about much more than dispensing medications. It’s about helping people and building relationships within the community.
“We’re such a busy pharmacy, but everyone works together. We support each other and we support our community, and that’s what makes it such a special place to work.”
Through her leadership, dedication, and passion for supporting both her team and the wider community, Georgia continues to play an important role in delivering compassionate, high-quality pharmacy care in Tasmania.
